Newark Post ([link removed]) (8/4/19) reports: "The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has fined Bloom Energy more than $45,000 for violating air quality regulations. The fine relates to Bloom’s Red Lion power-generation site near New Castle, where the company operated its gas-powered fuel cells without a permit for more than a month earlier this summer...Based in California, Bloom came to Newark in 2011 after state officials offered the company millions of dollars in job-creation incentives to build fuel cells at the STAR Campus to generate electricity and help Delmarva Power meet its renewable energy requirements. They also guaranteed a revenue stream to Bloom through a 'renewable energy' surcharge on Delmarva Power customers, even though Bloom's fuel cells are powered by nonrenewable natural gas."

It is used by hundreds of millions of people around the world and, thankfully, it is also becoming ever more affordable...The declining cost of air-conditioning is a common trend across nearly all household appliances, from toasters to televisions, from dishwashers to microwaves, from grills to blenders. As we wait for the cooler weather to return, we should be thankful that a machine that has saved and improved millions of lives around the world is continuing to become ever more affordable and abundant."

(8/2/19) reports: "While a recent USA Today editorial demonstrates the outlet’s desire to add some 'flare' to its content, it also showcases a limited knowledge of the oil and natural gas industry’s flaring process...The United States is the world’s top oil and natural gas producer, yet has a low flaring intensity than other nations. In relation to the amount of oil and gas produced, U.S. flaring intensity is very low. In fact, the United State ranks 44th overall in flaring intensity according to data from the World Bank. Methane emissions are also declining, despite record production in places like Texas. According to a new report by the Environmental Partnership, in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas, oil and gas production grew by 130 percent from 2011 and 2017, while methane emissions relative to production fell nearly 70 percent over the same period of time."

(8/2/19) reports: "A super political action group supporting Democratic Washington Gov. Jay Inslee's run for president has raised about $2.1 million this year, nearly all of it from seven people. The committee named Act Now on Climate got almost half of its money — $1 million — from environmental philanthropist Rose Letwin, the founder and sole funder of the Wilburforce Foundation, a Seattle-based conservation nonprofit...Inslee, whose poll numbers have remained near the bottom of the field, has said he welcomes any support to help address climate change."
