WHICH CA STATE CANDIDATES TO VOTE AND SUPPORT?

With a few weeks to go to the primaries, and many in CA voting by mail, it is important we do all we can for those candidates that support California Health Rights.

As non-profit, A Voice for Choice Advocacy cannot endorse a candidate or tell you who to vote for.  However, Christina and a few others have created a Candidate Support Guide and Voter Guide identifying the candidates who will further California Health Rights and vaccine choice, and those who will not.  We recommend you check out California Families for Health Rights (www.cafamiliesforhealthrights.org) to help determine who you should vote for and who you should support with your time and money.

Important Note: There are only a handful of races in the California Assembly and Senate elections that are competitive and whose results will change the trajectory of CA Health Rights and Vaccine Choice.  All districts are listed for voting purposes in the California Families for Health Rights Voter Guide (http://cafamiliesforhealthrights.org/ca-families-for-health-rights-voter-guide), BUT if you wish to contribute your money and/or time, we recommend you to contribute specifically to those identified by CA Families for Health Rights (* http://cafamiliesforhealthrights.org/candidates) to have the greatest impact to our cause, even if they are not in your district.  For more xxxxxxrmation see: http://cafamiliesforhealthrights.org/faq

You will also see there are many districts without a candidates identified.  If you identify candidates in your district for State Assembly or Senate who support Health Rights and Vaccine Choice, please enter them here: http://cafamiliesforhealthrights.org/identified-candidate-submission

Financial donations to support candidates…

The limit for individual campaign donations for CA Senators or Assembly Members is $4,700 per candidate, per year. Donations can be made to candidates in any district.  AVFCA recommends you donate to their campaigns directly, with a note specifically saying “Donated in the interest of California Families for Health Rights”. This will amplify your individual donation, as it groups all donations made to a candidate under one umbrella statement, making them realize that the mission is an important one in getting them elected.

Volunteering to support candidates

Get in touch with the candidate or their campaign office and find out how you can volunteer your time.  This may include:

·       Registering people to vote

·       Precinct walking

·       Canvassing

·       Phone banking

·       Helping with candidate meet and greets

·       Putting together yard signs

·       Data entry

·       Social medial posts

·       And much more

Only 25% of those who live in a district vote in the primary, so it is very possible to sway primary elections.  California State Senate and Assembly primaries put through the two candidates who greatest number of votes rather than the candidates from the two parties with the greatest votes.  This is unique to CA and is the reason why we have a super-Democrat majority because democrats are running against democrats in most districts, and also the reason we have to find and educate Democrats on the issue.  If you want to read more: https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2020/02/03/california-legislative-elections-little-no-choice.

Get involved and make a change in California.
