Jack, have you ever pressed your palm against the rough bark of a 2,000-year-old redwood tree?
It’s a powerful experience – like reaching back in time. One such tree is the magnificent Clar Tree, towering among Russian River Redwoods, a lush expanse of forest reigning along a mile-long stretch of the Russian River.
As I write, I’m filled with optimism. We have an opportunity to change the course of history for this forest, to forge a different path, to change its ending. But Save the Redwoods League has a small window of opportunity to make that happen.
We have until September 30 to secure funds for the protection of Russian River Redwoods. Will you help us protect this iconic forest?
Following a mile of the Russian River, the vantage from this forest offers glimpses of steelhead trout and Coho and Chinook salmon shimmering off the shoreline. The imperiled northern spotted owl nests near the ancient Clar Tree, its dappled feathers whispering through the forest canopy, as the bright gazes of bobcats, deer, and gray foxes glint through the dense flora.
Russian River Redwoods are vital to wildlife – and treasured by forest lovers like you and me, who want future generations to enjoy its beauty. Will you help the League to rewrite the future of this forest?
