Hi there,
As we come towards the end of one of the hottest summers on record, in the hottest year on record, we are feeling the impacts of climate change. There has never been a better time to invest in sustainable, people-friendly cities.
For the last 15 years GGWash has been making the case for land use, transportation, and housing policies that will help the region mitigate and adapt to climate change. Support from our individual donors makes this work possible. This August, as the region is slowing down, our recurring donor campaign is heating up. We've set a goal of bringing 65 of you into our Neighborhood as recurring donors and we are almost halfway there! Will you be the next to join?
This is also the perfect opportunity to come to one of our meet-ups, make sure your contact information is up to date, or join our friends at WABA to rescue food by bike. Read on to learn more: |

Meet-up! Hang out with land use and food justice advocates
Thursday, August 24, 5:30 - 8:00 pm Red Bear Brewing
This month's meet-up lifts up the connections between food justice and land use. We're excited to partner with our friends at DC Greens to bring people together to meet and connect over the ways in which food justice intersects with the need for more affordable and accessible housing, people-oriented streets, and better public transit. Join GGWash and DC Greens on Thursday, August 24 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Ward 1.5 Meet-up Sunday, September 10, 3:00 - 5:00 pm Grand Duchess
We're taking a summer break from the popular Ward 1.5 meet-ups in August, but we hope to see you on September 10 at Grand Duchess! Meet others who want to see more housing, more affordable housing, fewer trips by car, and the land use regulations necessary to support the above—plus, hear what GGWash is working on, particularly in northwest DC, and what you can do to get involved. Sign up to receive updates about the event!

We periodically ask you to confirm your address so that we can reach out to you about specific housing developments, transportation projects, volunteer opportunities, electoral work, or any other number of other things that are relevant because you live close to where they're happening.
Check what we've got on file here and update it if it's not correct. |

| Join our Breakfast Links team! Our Breakfast Links Curators kickstart each day at GGWash, working with our editors to select six to 10 engaging stories that provide a snapshot of recent local urbanist news. We've filled all of our regular breakfast links slots, and now we're looking for alternates! If you want to help us out but can't commit to a regular weekly shift, this is your moment.

Help WABA rescue food by bike!
Looking for a new way to volunteer? WABA just launched a new volunteer program that aims to combat food waste, by bike! The Food Rescue by Bike program is a partnership with Food Rescue US - DC and connects businesses who have unused food to social service agencies that can pass it on to their clients. Volunteers can choose to either complete a one-time pickup or adopt a location where they will drop food off to weekly. You can sign up to volunteer here.

| Become a recurring donor
If you want to support GGWash's work, the single most impactful thing you can do is become a sustaining donor. Monthly, recurring contributions are the lifeblood of our organization. In the last year, our Neighbors helped us publish more than 700 pieces from 99 contributors, reach over 2 million readers, and celebrate some major policy wins across the region. Let’s keep that energy going! We need 35 more new Neighbors to make our goal by the end of August.

| Thank you so much for everything you continue to do for our region! Hopefully I will see you at an event soon. All the best, Kate Jentoft-Herr Engagement Manager |

P.S. Your recurring donations are seriously powerful - they fund so many critical parts of our work. Even $5 a month makes a big difference. |
