Weekly Digest Archive  See past issues.   President's Message I want to extend a warm welcome to NASN's new CEO, Terri Hinkley, EdD, MBA, BScN, RN, CAE, who started this week. Terri is an experienced RN with deep connections across the nursing spectrum. She recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board, is President of the American Board of Nursing Specialties, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. Previously she was the Workforce Innovation Officer at the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and is an adjunct professor at George Washington University. In 2020, Terri advocated for the medical-surgical nursing anti-racism pledge and an intentional DEI commitment. Terri's doctorate focused on strategic thinking, specifically, how to prepare the workforce for the future. I look forward to working with her to advance school nurses and our profile. NASN Staff Update: Meet Karen Graf NASN is pleased to introduce Karen Graf, MSN, RN-BC, APHN-BC, as our new Nursing Education and Practice Specialist. Karen has worked as a healthcare professional for 35 years, dedicating her entire career to pediatric health, advocacy, public policy, and the profession of nursing. She has been an ANCC Nationally Board-Certified Nurse since 1992 and a certified Advanced Public Health Nurse since 2011. For the last 18 years, she has worked in the field of school nursing as a building nurse, regional nurse supervisor, rural nurse coordinator, and county nurse administrator. Karen has served as the president, vice president, advocacy chair, and data coordinator for the Montana Association of School Nurses and on the NASN Board of Directors (2017-2022). Karen's focus on disabled students leads her to tirelessly advocate for positive health outcomes for all, especially the most vulnerable populations. Her advocacy work with the Montana state legislature led her to work nationally with Senator Tester and Representative Titus on the NURSE Act. She is passionate about evidence-based school nursing practice, mentoring BSN student nurses, legislative change, and supporting students with disabilities.
