Friend, climate change becoming the crisis it is today did not come as a surprise.
Even the fossil fuel industry has known about the threat of global warming for five decades.
Still, corporate polluters continue to spend billions of dollars to mislead the public about the danger of fossil fuels, lobby elected officials every day, and successfully elect climate delayers and deniers every election season.
For instance, in 2022 Oil and Gas spent $41.6 million on campaigns and lobbying compared to just $18 million from progressive coalitions including EnviroVoters. And through the first half of 2023, Big Oil has already spent over $13 million on lobbying to influence energy and climate policy in California.
Fossil fuel companies have ignored science, lied to the public, and overall worsened and hastened the climate crisis. They must be held accountable.
Sign the petition urging the Justice Department to sue the fossil fuel industry for violation of federal racketeering laws, truth in advertising laws, consumer protection laws, and more → [link removed]
We can’t wait around for the fossil fuel industry to do the right thing. We must act now to hold them to account.
Thanks for standing with us, friend.
