August 10, 2023

Dear CA-44 Veterans and family,

The VA has extended the deadline for eligible Veterans can file - or submit your intent to file - a PACT Act claim and receive benefits backdated to August 2022 to THIS MONDAY, August 14th.

Last year, President Biden signed the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, the largest expansion of veterans benefits in decades. The PACT Act expands healthcare and benefits for more than five million service members who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxins during their service.

There's no deadline to apply for PACT Act Benefits, but if you file your PACT Act claim - or your intent to file - by August 14, 2023, you can receive benefits backdated to August 2022.

Find more information, see if you are eligible, and submit your claim at VA.gov/pact or call 1-800-MyVA411.

Due to high volume, some Veterans and survivors are receiving error messages when submitting their intent to file PACT Act claims. If you received one of these messages, DON'T WORRY! The VA is aware of this situation and  has logged your intent to file and saved your effective date for benefits.

Sincerely,

Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán

Member of Congress
