John – 38 years in prison and 148 lashes. This is the price to pay for defending women’s rights in Iran.

Nasrin Soutudeh, an award-winning human rights lawyer, recently received this sentence. Her crime? She dared speak out against Iran’s laws forcing women to wear the hijab.

That’s why I’m getting in touch today – because Nasrin doesn’t deserve this. But if we act now, we could get her sentence revoked. Will you join the fight to free unfairly imprisoned people like Nasrin by supporting Amnesty International UK with a monthly gift?

Yes, I will donate

Your monthly donation could help fund our campaign putting pressure on the Iranian government to release Nasrin – so she can go back to her family and her job.

Nasrin has already spent nine months separated from her husband and two children. She’s been charged with things like “inciting corruption and prostitution” and “disturbing public opinion”. The 38-year sentence she has just been handed is the result of two grossly unfair trials. And it is the harshest sentence recorded against a human rights defender in Iran in recent years.

Nasrin has risked everything to stand up for women's rights. We need your support to fight for the freedom of people who, like Nasrin, have been unjustly imprisoned. By starting your monthly donation today you could help ensure she is soon reunited with her family.

We know the difference our movement can make. Our campaigning work has helped thousands of unjustly imprisoned people – including Nasrin herself, whose release we helped secure back in 2013 when she was first sentenced for defending human rights.

By becoming part of our movement today you could help us reach out to the UK public for their support, strengthening the power of our collective voice to free Nasrin and others like her.

We’ve done it before – with your support, we can do it again. Start your gift today.
