Albany Lobby Day: Toxic Chemicals

Are you concerned about toxic chemicals found in everyday products that you and your family use? Then join us for a day-long visit to Albany on Tuesday, February 25th to tell our elected officials that our health is a priority and urge them to pass legislation protecting us from toxic chemicals. What's the latest news from our Federal Policy office in Washington, D.C.? Our Director of Federal Legislative Affairs Kerene Tayloe (pictured second from right) participated in a review of the final draft of an environmental justice bill being drafted by Congressmen Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.), Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources, and A. Donald McEachin (D-Va. and pictured far left), a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources: “WE ACT for Environmental Justice is appreciative of the thoughtful leadership of Chair Raúl M. Grijalva and Rep. A. Donald McEachin, particularly as they have made environmental justice a key legislative priority. Environmental Justice Grants

Are you a nonprofit doing environmental justice and sustainability work in New York State? Then consider applying for our Environmental Justice Capacity-Building Grant Program funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. As part of this program, WE ACT will award 18 grants – $50,000 each, for a total of $900,000 – to eligible groups throughout New York State. The Columbia Center for Children's Environmental Health and WE ACT teamed up to produce an informational poster about Burning Dirty Heating Oil - including its health effects and what you can do to reduce your exposure - in English and Spanish.
