Hi John,
In a recent article published by The Washington Post, they discuss how Democrats are concerned that Black voters won’t turn out for Biden next year. Malcolm Kenyatta, a Pennsylvania state representative, was quoted stating:
“You have to spend just as much time, maybe even more time, on the people who show up for you every time as you do for the people who don’t. What Black folks care about is what everybody cares about, to be able to take care of their community, to be able to live in a community that is safe … If the president is able to do what he is doing now, which is tout his record, I think we are going to be fine.”
Black voters cannot be taken for granted. That is why we exist. New Pennsylvania Project was founded to consistently engage Pennsylvanians year-round to expand the electorate centering Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities, and the youth. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth – and this work is going to be even more important as we near critical elections this year and next.
We are out on the ground from McKeesport to Harrisburg, Chester City to Easton, Bensalem to Philadelphia, registering Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth to vote and mobilizing these first-time voters to the polls this year and beyond. It is our theory of change that we hire from within these communities, as we know the most trusted messengers are trusted local leaders.
Can you donate $5 right now to help us continue this critical work and register as many voters as possible?
