Fun activities in Clifton East ✨

Once again we are hosting a performance by The Jellyfish Theatre Company in our beautiful Flower Park.  The performance of Jungle Book will be one of the highlights of our event which also includes bouncy castles, face painting, a smoothie bike and belly dancing.  There will be information stalls too, and food to buy, or you can bring along a picnic.  The event is at the rear of the Flower Park on Thursday 10 August, 12-5pm.

In addition to this, Clifton East councillors are running pop up park fun events in the ward in some of our smaller parks.  These have fun sports and craft activities for all ages as well as free refreshments.  Next dates are 18th and 31st August – keep an eye on Facebook or get in touch with your councillors to find out which parks are taking part.

Also keep an eye on our facebook pages as we will be promoting activities for all ages to be getting involved in locally through our community groups.

Kieron Hill Mural

Councillors and Nottingham City Housing Services officers are very excited to be working in partnership with Small Kid and local schools to design a mural on the wall to the rear of the Keiron Hill court flats.

We hope that this will really brighten up the area for residents, and showcase some of the talent our young people have in design.

FREE activities on offer at the Hope Centre

Clifton Library is taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge arranged by our Libraries team.

Every summer, our City Libraries invite local children to take part in a reading challenge which maintains their interest in reading during the holidays. It’s something very close to my heart – as a former teacher and headteacher, I know the importance of encouraging reading in children can’t be understated.

This year’s challenge, Ready Set Read, is launched this Saturday and is themed around the power of play, sport, games and physical activity. Children can take part by signing up any time after Saturday 8 July at their local library and collecting free materials as they keep reading. Children can take part in the library – it’s free and all children need is a library card. If they don’t have one they can sign up at their local library.

Once they have read six books, they will receive a certificate and an invite to a medal ceremony where they will be presented with their very own Summer Reading Challenge medal.

Through a partnership with the University of Nottingham, City Arts and Lakeside Arts for the HeART project, a range of activities will be held over the summer, including crafts, poetry and a drawing workshop from a Beano illustrator.

Streets for people

*We are very pleased to see the works to improve our pavements and roads in the ward have begun, with more work scheduled in.*

So far we have seen resurfacing works on Summerwood Lane completed.  Councillors are also working with officers to look at increasing the number of bins in the ward, and improve the locations they are sited at, as well as looking at locations for tree planting and tree works to keep the ward looking clean and green.
