August 5, 2019: After adjusting for inflation, federal government spending has doubled since 1989. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 83% of voters recognize this to be true.[1]

Nearly as many—81%—also recognize that federal spending has increased in 45 of the past 50 years.

Finally, 62% recognize that federal spending automatically increases every year.
