A client from our Zelaya case, Catarino Zapote Hernández, was able to return to his home and family in the United States as a result of our legal victory. His story and the community’s heroic fight for justice are featured in a powerful segment on Univision’s season premiere of "Aquí y Ahora" that aired on Sunday. Catarino is one of the approximately 100 workers who was illegally targeted and detained following a brutal raid at a meat processing plant in eastern Tennessee in 2018. He had to leave the United States as a result of the raid and spent three years away from his home — but several weeks ago, he was able to return to his family and community as part of the settlement agreement that we fought for in our case.

Our collective efforts — from our courageous plaintiffs to our co-counsel, to community advocates and supporters like you, friend — made this possible. While we cannot heal the wounds caused by the violent 2018 raid, moments like Catarino’s return home are a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together in the name of justice.

As we forge ahead to the next fight, we are carrying the words of Catarino with us: “Don’t give up and keep fighting.”
