ACEH is inviting applications for FFY23 HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) New Projects and Renewals. Each year ACEH coordinates the submission of HUD CoC Project and collaborative applications to fund organizational and partner programs through a competitive grant process.
These grants fund permanent and temporary housing programs in Anchorage, as well as the coordination work done by ACEH to promote a community-wide commitment to ending homelessness. ACEH will provide technical assistance to existing projects through renewal applications, and to non-profits requesting funding for new projects. The amount of funding available for Federal Fiscal Year 2023 (FFY23) is limited and yet to be determined by HUD. However, the process is very competitive, both locally and nationally.

Currently, the pantry serves 116 families per day on average—and that number is still growing.
St. Francis House was able to welcome and serve over 1,000 new households in the first three months of this year. “It’s shocking,” Dwayne says. This May was the pantry’s second-busiest month ever, with over 1,900 visits from 1,400 different families.

The HOME-ARP NCS: Eligible Costs Handout presents the non-congregate shelter (NCS) eligible costs to assist Participating Jurisdictions (PJs) with implementing compliant NCS projects in their communities.

New Data Show Rental Assistance Improves Food Security
New research exploring the connections between housing and food security finds that residents receiving rental assistance were less likely to experience food insecurity and consumed more nutritious foods than residents on rental assistance waitlists. The study draws on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, as well as HUD housing data about individuals who received rental assistance between 1999 and 2016. “The U.S. is experiencing a severe housing affordability crisis, resulting in households having to make difficult trade-offs between paying for a place to live and basic health necessities such as food,” write the authors. “Rental assistance may mitigate these strains, improving food security and nutrition.” Read the study here.
