John,
The youth vote is under attack.
Republicans know that when young people turn out to vote, they lose.
The GOP is afraid of youth and their power – because it’s youth who will face the consequences of irresponsible Republican policy. It’s youth who will face the reality of the GOP ignoring the deadly threat of climate change. It’s youth who won’t have access to Social Security benefits when Republicans end them.
Young people know the truth: that Republican leadership spells disaster for them and their futures. So, Republicans are trying to keep them from getting to the polls next November.
Right here in Idaho, our extremist Republican governor signed a bill prohibiting a student ID from being used as a voter ID.
We’ve seen this level of desperate voter suppression before in Idaho. The GOP knows their oppressive, ignorant, and anti-democracy lawmaking is problematic and unpopular. They know that when enough young people turn out to vote, they lose.
Young people must have their voices heard. They will inherit this country, and we owe them a prominent voice in our democracy.
I’m committed to expanding the right to vote – never limiting it. I want to serve in Congress to make strong policy that protects our communities and builds a better future for our kids. I need you with me now – can you pitch in to my campaign today?
The GOP is afraid of the power of a coalition that includes people of all ages, from all backgrounds, and from all walks of life.
Let’s build that coalition together.
Onward,
David Roth
