John,

This campaign is showing the people of TX-10 what real representation looks like: fighting for voting rights, building coalitions to address climate change, showing up for workers and immigrant families and people without a voice.

And we are gaining steam by the day: hundreds of volunteers have helped us knock on 34,000 doors so far, and each weekend more people get involved. It’s looking good for March 3!

Unfortunately, not everyone is on the same wavelength. In the last two weeks, a powerful new kind of Super PAC that can raise unlimited funds has spent over $200,000 on this race. And the PAC has sent two district-wide mailers this week, with a very negative message.

The negative mailers have attacked Shannon Hutcheson, one of my primary election opponents. The same PAC has also sent positive mailers for Pritesh Gandhi, another opponent.

I’m sending out this note in part because I’ve been asked if I sent these mailers. The answer is no. Rather, this is the work of “314 Action,” a DC-based group. They support my opponent, Gandhi.

One of the fundamental problems with our political system is how unlimited corporate money can distort elections. I’ve refused to accept any corporate PAC money. And I support the repeal of Citizens United — the Supreme Court decision that allows this PAC to intervene in our race.

I’m confident that we’ve built the coalition that will not only win the Democratic nomination, but will send McCaul to an early retirement this fall. And we’ve built this coalition with people power—no corporate money—to make sure that I’ll be representing your concerns, and only your concerns, when I get to Congress.

Onward and upward,
Mike
