Dear John,

This July was the hottest month ever recorded in human history. Yes, ever. The dire impacts of climate change were evident around the world: temperatures exceeded 120 degrees in China; red flag wildfire warnings were issued for the Willamette Valley over the Fourth of July; and marine heat waves have been developing in the Pacific Ocean, North Atlantic, and Caribbean Sea.

In fact, July was so hot that experts were able to determine it was a record-breaking month of heat and high temperatures before the month even ended. They also found that human-caused climate pollution is mainly driving this abnormal heat and other out-of-the-ordinary weather patterns.

It’s clear the time for climate action was, frankly, yesterday. We’ve made a lot of progress in recent years, but we still have a lot of work to do. Will you help by making a contribution to OLCV today? Your donation will ensure that we have the resources we need to continue working toward a just and equitable climate future. [[link removed]]

During this year’s legislative session we were able to get bold environment and climate action bills across the finish line, despite the senate Republican-led walkout stalling our efforts. These bills are on their way to becoming laws any day now, and some of them will unlock billions of federal dollars through President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan. None of this would have been possible without the help of generous supporters like you. Will you continue to support our work by making a contribution today? [[link removed]]

The record-breaking heat that we saw in July was not an outlier. We will continue to face the impacts of climate change and they will only worsen if we don’t continue to act. We’re gearing up for a big election year in 2024, and your donation now will ensure that we have the resources we need to elect leaders who will act on climate and help us continue to pass important legislation. Will you chip in today to help? [[link removed]]

Sincerely,
April Christenson
Development Director, OLCV

PS: The time for climate action is now. Will you support our work by making a donation to OLCV today? We can’t do it without you. [[link removed]]
