LET'S EXPAND THE SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS NATIONAL MONUMENT! 

Recently, I joined Senator Alex Padilla and other elected officials and community leaders to urge the Biden-Harris Administration to expand the boundary of Southern California’s San Gabriel Mountains National Monument by issuing a presidential proclamation under the Antiquities Act of 1906. The proposed designation would protect 109,167 acres of the San Gabriel Mountains’ significant natural, cultural, and recreational resources.

☞ PREPARING YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES FOR THE END OF THE STUDENT LOAN PAYMENT PAUSE ☜
Interest on student loans will resume starting on September 1, 2023, and borrowers will have to restart payments in October. The U.S. Department of Education will notify borrowers before payments restart. Loan servicers should also provide borrowers with billing statements or notices at least 21 days before their first payments are due.

★ PACT ACT ★

If you are a Veteran have been impacted by burn pit exposure or toxic substances, you could be eligible for new health benefits. 

Those eligible for PACT Act benefits should file or submit an intent to file for these benefits before August 9, 2023. This will ensure that backpay you’re entitled to can start at August of last year. Visit VA.gov/pact for more information.

OPENING OF A LOS ANGELES-BASED VETERANS BUSINESS OUTREACH CENTER

I am so excited to announce the opening of a Los Angeles Regional Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA. Covering Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Ventura County, Orange County, Santa Barbara County, and Riverside County, this new VBOC will provide essential resources to veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs and small business owners. In the United States, there are nearly two million veteran-owned small businesses, employing over five million people and generating over $1.3 trillion in annual revenue.
