Those with lived experience share how their lives and those of their family members have been impacted by substance use and addiction.

Allison Forman is running the 2023 TCS NYC Marathon as a Partner for Hope ([link removed] ) in memory of her brother Kevin who passed away from substance use disorder just over a year ago. She is sharing her story, and has joined our team, in order to help others in a similar position as her family have a chance at a better outcome.

“This year I turned 30, the same age my brother was when he succumbed to his addiction. Since his passing, I have truly tried to take full advantage of my life and enjoy what he no longer can. That is why this year I’m running the NYC Marathon in his honor to help families who depend on support from Partnership to End Addiction.

My brother began using when he was 18 and I was 16. I have seen him go through many highs and lows throughout his journey. I have seen how his addiction affected my parents, family, friends, and everyone around him. I have felt the pain, grief, and confusion addiction causes. I am passionate about ending the stigma of addiction and making treatment more accessible.

Running has helped me greatly in my grieving process and allows me to give back to an organization that helps individuals and families struggling with issues I know well and am passionate about. This organization is very close to my heart as I lost my brother to addiction just over a year ago.” – Allison Forman
