Fall turkey permits available beginning Aug. 14
Fall turkey season is just around the corner! Start getting ready by marking your calendar for Aug. 14, the date that permits go on sale. You can begin purchasing permits at 1 p.m. Central time online or at Game and Parks permitting offices. To learn about significant changes in the fall season, visit us online.

Duck hunters: Remember to choose tier during HIP registration
HIP registration began Aug. 1, and this is a reminder that you will need to choose between two daily bag limits, or "tiers," when registering for HIP. See details online. New in 2023: Hunters must register for HIP through their customer profile in the Nebraska Game and Parks permit system. Log in at GoOutdoorsNE.com.

Any remaining deer permits available for purchase
Haven't gotten your big game permits yet? There are still some options available. Log onto the permit system and check for availability.
Please note that all antelope resident and nonresident archery permits have sold out. And, as a reminder, nonresident deer hunters were limited to 10,000 total either-sex and buck-only permits (youth and landowners are not included in the quota total); for more information on this change, visit our website.

Now is the time to enroll in hunter education
While hunter ed classes are held throughout the year, most take place in late summer and early fall. So if you have been considering taking a course, now is a great time! Sign up today.

Squirrel season open now through Jan. 31
As you're waiting for fall hunting season to truly begin, take advantage of one season that has already begun: squirrel season! It opened Aug. 1 and runs through Jan. 31, 2024.

Many seasons to open in September
Many fall hunting seasons will begin in early September. They include archery deer, dove, teal, archery bull elk and prairie grouse. Mark your calendars and get ready for the excitement to begin!

Reminders to landowners
Limited landowner and special landowner deer permits are available to qualifying landowners. Remember that before purchasing permits, all land areas must be added to the qualifying landowner's account, as well as family members associated with the land.

When purchasing your fall permits, consider making a donation to Hunters Helping the Hungry (and maybe donating a deer in the months to come). This program pays for donated deer to be processed and distributed at food pantries statewide.
