National

Hi John,

In this update: three key dates.

  • Christopher Luxon public meeting, in Paraparaumu,
  • Todd McClay on rural issues, in Horowhenua,
  • Dr Shane Reti on health, in Levin.

Before I get to those, this weekend you'll see all our election signs going up. We're still looking for a number of locations around town for these. If you don't have a fence, we've got little posts we can put in the garden or grass; if you live in a cul-de-sac that's fine too - I still want one in every street no matter how quiet it is.

Signs are really important and an easy way to spread our message. If you're willing to host one, I'd love to hear from you.

A day in the life

Hopefully you've seen all the latest policies we've released, from banning cell phones to training more doctors and nurses. At a local level, if you're wondering what I do all day campaigning, check out this video. It would be a HUGE help to me if you could please like and share it on facebook.

Meet Christopher Luxon

Join me next Wednesday in Paraparaumu and come and meet NZ's next Prime Minister. We had a huge turn-out in Levin two weeks ago, and so many commented on how impressive he was in person. Come and decide for yourself:

  • 7pm, Wednesday August 16th,
  • Connect Church,
  • Realm Drive, Paraparaumu.

Rural Issues Meeting

Join me this Friday, along with Todd McClay (our spokesperson for agriculture, hunting and fishing) and Suze Redmayne (our candidate in Rangitikei and founder of Coastal Lamb).

11am Friday 11th at Heights Experience, which is just off SH57 between Shannon and Levin. Farmers, growers, hunters, fishers, gun owners and anyone else interested is welcome. We're providing a small morning tea, but we'd gladly take donations for the campaign and to cover costs.

Health in Levin

We've got a couple more public meetings lined up. The first is with Dr Shane Reti talking about local healthcare.

  • 12pm, Thursday August 24th,
  • Levin Senior Citizens' Hall,
  • Cnr Montgomery and Cambridge Streets, Levin.

We're also planning a meeting about education with Erica Stanford, in Ōtaki on August 30th, but I'll send out details shortly.

Meet me at your street corner

I'm starting another round of street corner meetings. The first ones are on Saturday August 19th:

  • 1pm, Ohau (outside Ohau School),
  • 1.45, Manakau (Manakau Market carpark),
  • 3pm, Te Horo (Garden Centre carpark, cnr Te Horo Beach Road),
  • 4pm, Peka Peka (cnr of Paetawa and Peka Peka Roads)

Please join me at one of these. Come and learn a bit more about me and our local plans, and bring your neighbours, friends, and questions.

Can you please host me?

You can also invite me to come and meet your friends, family, neighbours or colleagues. Host a small (informal) function at your home or work. I'll come and meet everyone, give a quick introduction, and answer any questions. These are fantastic and I'd love to come to one with you.

Thank you for all the support. Just over nine weeks to go and if you ever wondered about getting involved in a small way, like waving a sign with us on the side of the road, delivering flyers, or having a small sign at your house, now is the time! I'm really grateful.
