Last week, Donald Trump was handed his third indictment -- and for arguably his most serious charges yet. The indictment gets to the crux of Trump's role on January 6th, and whether he personally engaged in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results and disrupt the transfer of power.

There have been a number of major developments since:

  • According to a new poll from ABC News/Ipsos, a staggering 65% of American adults are calling these charges "very serious." Notably, this poll shows an 11-point increase among independent voters who consider this indictment very serious compared to Trump's previous indictments.

  • Despite that, Trump loyalists in Congress like Marjorie Taylor Greene have threatened to cut funds from federal law enforcement -- including from special counsel Jack Smith who filed the criminal indictment charges.
