Team, did you see what A.G. Holder said?

“Ahead of last November’s elections, our movement helped secure what the New York Times called ‘the fairest House map of the last 40 years.’ Now, we have an opportunity to secure even fairer maps before the 2024 elections – but we must act quickly.”

Here’s why we’re excited. The Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Allen v. Milligan struck down racially gerrymandered maps in Alabama and required the state to draw new, fair maps before the next election. According to experts, the Court’s reasoning could also lead to maps being redrawn in states like Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.

But here’s why we’re worried. Instead of complying with the Court's order, Alabama Republicans instead passed a second map that also violates the VRA. If GOP lawmakers run out the clock, they could keep manipulated maps in place for the next election!

Right now our movement faces both a critical opportunity and a significant challenge – and that means your grassroots support has never been more important. Will you donate today to help the NDRC continue fighting nationwide for fair maps and a strong democracy?

Thanks to this Supreme Court ruling, there could be a major shakeup of congressional maps across the country. According to FiveThirtyEight, “this decision could be the difference between Republican and Democratic control of the House.”

But it’s not a done deal, team. Republicans are fighting like hell to protect their gerrymandered maps – and if our movement loses steam, they could get away with it.

We’re already more than halfway through 2023, so there’s no time to waste. Will you pitch in whatever you can today to help the NDRC fight for fair maps all across the country?
