Welcome to Friday, February 21st, chips and dips...

Roger Stone has been sentenced to 40 months in prison.

The former Trump adviser was sentenced for crimes that included obstruction of justice, lying to Congress, and witness tampering.

The decision followed a public skirmish between President Donald Trump and the Justice Department, with Trump tweeting that the DOJ's original sentencing recommendation was a "miscarriage of justice" that he "cannot allow."

Soon after, the Justice Department - headed by Attorney General William Barr - issued new, reduced, sentencing guidelines. This caused four career prosecutors to quit in protest.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson said just prior to Stone's sentencing that he "was not prosecuted for standing up for the president, he was prosecuted for covering up for the president." She also said that he "will not be sentenced for who his friends are, or who his enemies are."

Do you support sentencing Roger Stone to 3 years in prison?

Fracking Ban

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) recently introduced the Ban Fracking Act with the support of lead cosponsor Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR). Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) introduced a companion bill in the House.

The Ban Fracking Act would implement the prohibition in three stages: It would immediately ban all new fracking infrastructure permits on federal land; then it would ban fracking within 2,500 feet of homes and schools by 2021; finally, it would ban all fracking in the U.S. by 2025.

Additionally, the bill would require the Labor Dept. to work with other federal & state agencies to facilitate a “just transition” for people working in the fracking industry to prioritize the placement of fossil fuel workers into other well-paid jobs in their communities.

Read what both sides are saying, then tell your reps:

Should the U.S. ban fracking?
