John, in the spirit of our campaign’s commitment to transparency, we want to let you in on something we don’t always talk about: Our budget.
We don’t typically go there since budgeting is not exactly the most fascinating topic, but we hope you’ll let us explain.
Each week, we compare our fundraising numbers with our budget and based on the results, we do one of three things:
- If our fundraising is on track: We can keep up our efforts toward meaningful, lasting progress for working families including lowering costs, increasing access to health care, protecting Social Security and Medicaid, strengthening voting rights and more.
- If our fundraising is falling behind: We take a hard look at our budget and scale back our plans because with limited resources, our campaign’s reach and visibility take the fall. That means less voter outreach, a hit to day-to-day operations and a strategic disadvantage as we work to reelect Lauren.
- If we’re ahead on our goals: We can be confident that we’ll have enough resources to cover everything we’ve planned, while getting ahead in our fight to reclaim the Democratic House majority.
Unfortunately this week’s budget report shows that we’re falling short. This can limit what we can do in the coming weeks and impact the amount of work we’re able to accomplish.
John, we are not known to fall short of our goals, and with Lauren up for reelection next year, we honestly cannot afford to start missing them now.
So we’re asking folks to dig deep and chip in a few dollars so that when we review our budget next, we can breathe easy knowing that we won’t have to scale back or make cuts. If you can, chip in here >>>
