Today in Arizona, President Biden designated Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni — Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon as the latest U.S. national monument.

President Biden’s designation will conserve nearly a million acres of public land surrounding the Grand Canyon — lands that are under threat by uranium mining and other destructive industries.

This is huge news, Friend. Local Indigenous communities and environmentalists have fought for years to protect the cultural heritage and ecology of the Grand Canyon region. Today’s designation will ensure that these historical resources are preserved for generations to come.
