John, in recent years, the month of August has been filled with tragedies for children, from the explosion in Beirut in August 2020 to a massive earthquake in Haiti in August 2021.
It’s also the height of hurricane season, and each year, the climate crisis increases the frequency and severity of summer storms, floods and wildfires. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that when disaster strikes, children are more at risk than ever. That’s why we’re determined to be there for them no matter what.
Unfortunately, despite being a time of great need, August is also one of the slowest times for donations. That’s why our Summer Annual Fund goal could not be more important: We need to raise $500,000 by midnight on Friday to continue supporting children around the world as they face conflict, disaster, poverty, the climate crisis and other hardships. And to help us get there, a group of donors have contributed to a matching gift fund that will TRIPLE every dollar you give.
With your support, our teams across the globe are making children’s futures brighter every day. They’re bringing vaccines and medical care to some of the world’s poorest and most remote places. They’re running summer camps in rural communities across the United States to prevent summer learning loss. They’re working to meet children’s needs before, during and after a disaster.
But all of this work – and everything else we do to help kids survive and thrive – depends on the generosity of champions for children like you, John. We’re counting on you to come through for them now while every dollar goes three times as far:
