The post holder will predominantly be working with young people and their families who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The post holder will support the Local Authority to meet its statutory responsibilities, monitor attendance using information management systems and establish and promote positive working relationships with education providers. The post holder will undertake work in pupils homes, schools, FE Colleges and other educational settings to help identify aspirations and support the re-engagement back into education, employment or training. *ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:*
* Experience of supporting children and young people with SEND through a multiagency approach
* Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, adapting style appropriately
* Ability to work with citizens in challenging situations effectively and efficiently
* Experience of handling conflict and managing sensitive issues

*JOB ROLE:

*The SEN Team works closely with schools, academies, parents and specialist services from education, health and social care to ensure the effective placement of children with Special Educational Needs. We are looking for a knowledgeable and resilient person to help the team devise and implement a consistently high quality education service.

Successful candidates will:

- Manage casework and achieve effective outcomes for children and young people with the most significant, complex special education needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Work in partnership with all agencies to ensure that young people with SEND have their needs met and are kept safe.
- Negociate and monitor quality, cost effective programmes of education within schools and other settings.
- Ensure that EHC plans are of a high quality and completed and issued within statutory timeframes.
- Represent and lead the LA witnesses at SEN and Disability Tribunals. *

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:*
* Specialist and detailed knowledge and understanding of the Local Authoritys statutory duties and other responsibilities for young people with SEND.
* Strong influencing and negotiating skills with a proven track record of being able to move professionals and families from previously held positions.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply a complex range of legislation, policies and statutory guidance.
* Ability to work accurately under pressure to strict legal timelines with the minimum of supervision.

* Kitchen Assistant Kitchen Assistants are primarily responsible for assisting cooks in providing high quality, culturally appropriate catering services to meet the needs of citizens. This will involve basic food preparation, washing up, cleaning and, where appropriate, packaging of food with due regard to safety and food hygiene legislation.
Cleaning Staff Cleaners are responsible for the general cleanliness and hygiene within the relevant establishment, including the cleaning and vacuuming of floor surfaces and skirting boards; complete hygiene maintenance of bathroom and lavatory areas and maintaining the cleanliness of Citizens' bedrooms where requested. They also ensure that the public areas of the establishment are kept clean, tidy and welcoming; carry out periodical cleaning of internal windows, walls, carpets and furniture to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas.
Laundry Assistant Laundry Assistants provide a comprehensive and efficient laundry service, in order to ensure cleanliness and availability of fresh linen and clothing as required for citizens. They also undertake regular cleaning and laundering of soft furnishings and fittings, in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the establishment.
*Essential Requirements*
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, including COSHH and Health and Safety;
* Understanding of food hygiene procedures / cleaning methods / laundry requirements (depending on role being applied for);
