John,
We recently sent our online supporters a survey about the pressing issues we’re facing today.
We wanted to report back and let you know what issues made it to the top of the list—and what Senator Durbin is doing in Washington to make progress in the face of Republican obstruction.
But first, can you make a quick contribution right now to keep the Senate blue in 2024?

1. Climate action
We’ve all seen the news that 2023 has been the hottest year ever recorded. That may be one reason that climate action was the number one issue for most of our supporters. Last year, Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest piece of federal legislation addressing climate change ever adopted by Congress. This issue is one of the most urgent of our times and Senator Durbin is working hard to meet the challenge.
2. Gun violence
In 2022, the Senate passed historic, bipartisan gun safety legislation that improved the background checks system, supported red flag laws, and closed dangerous loopholes. But Senator Durbin knows that is far from enough. That’s why he is still pushing to get military-style assault weapons off our streets. Most recently, he’s introduced legislation to ban marketing of firearms to children and reduce gun violence from stolen firearms. He also helped successfully block the GOP’s efforts to weaken the National Firearms Act.
3. Voting rights
As states across the country restricted voting rights over the past two years, Democrats in the Senate responded by introducing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Unfortunately, Senate Republicans filibustered the bill. Senator Durbin is still working on solutions to strengthen the constitutional right to vote and protect the very bedrock of our democracy.
Senator Durbin is hard at work in the Senate on these issues and so many more. Pitch in $5 now to help him keep up the fight.
