Dear John,
As former Secretary of State for Ohio and someone who has been engaged in national and state politics for many years, I want to alert you to a situation unfolding in Ohio that all conservatives should be concerned about.
It only takes one good policy passing in one state to create momentum for conservative policy solutions across the country. But when good policy fails... it can discourage voters and dissuade policymakers in other states from standing up for what's right.
Today, Ohioans are heading to the polls, but the most important matter decided won't be about a person elected to an office. It will be the outcome of Issue 1.
At stake: the Ohio constitution.
Under current state law, it only takes a simple 50% majority to amend the constitution. Passage of Issue 1 would increase that threshold to 60%, making it much harder for well-funded special interest groups like the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and Human Rights Campaign to sway public opinion and push their radical agendas.
As Protect Women Ohio explained, "Right now, Ohio's constitution has a giant 'FOR SALE' sign on it."
When it comes to Issue 1, a single vote can essentially wipe away all the pro-life measures or parental rights that have been advanced in the state of Ohio in recent years.
No wonder leftist groups have spent weeks pouring money into ads and the media have been hysterically urging everyone to vote "No on 1." They want to keep the status quo of being able to easily change the state constitution rather than having to build consensus or garner enough signatures from every county for their radical proposals.
Believers need to be paying attention because today's results won't just affect Buckeyes...the Left is using this as a test case for what they want to try across the nation!
IT ONLY TAKES ONE.
If this one good amendment passes, it could have a lasting impact in undercutting the Left's plans to worm their way into other state constitutions with a range of bad policies: from expanding abortion on demand, to nullifying parental rights and enabling gender transitions for minors.
If the voters of Ohio reject this amendment, it will leave the door wide open for the Left to force their ideology on the state... and they will use this as a blueprint for the rest of America and target other states with their radical agenda!
