Our partner SunPower has been working for 38 years to change the way our world is powered. In 2021, the company launched SunPower 25X25, a comprehensive set of goals designed to support diversity, equity, and inclusion within their company, across the industry, and in our communities.1 The SunPower 25X25 commitments will drive investment in four major areas to support their equity goals. 1. Increasing Workforce Diversity – SunPower will achieve workforce diversity goals by deploying a full-scale workforce development program. They began in 2022 by increasing support for the company's growing residential installation teams across the country.
2. Expanding Access for Customers – SunPower has committed to developing products and services that make solar accessible to low-income and moderate-income customers. This includes partnering with community-based and non-profit organizations that assist those most likely to be impacted by energy burden and providing customers with access to information about additional incentives to reduce energy costs.
3. Ensuring Industry Equity – SunPower has prioritized establishing new alliances with women-owned and minority-owned business organizations to ensure that SunPower has direct feedback from business owners and entrepreneurs. The company will use the feedback to design programs to accelerate the success of ethnically-, racially-, and gender-diverse business partners. Their partner organizations include Black Owners of Solar Services (B.O.S.S.), the Latin Business Association, and the National Association of Women Business Owners.
4. Ensuring Supplier Equity – Supplier diversity allows SunPower to effect change that extends to their vendors and partners. SunPower has improved processes that track minority-owned vendors and partners and adopted a policy of proactively including minority-owned businesses in their proposals. They intentionally engage small businesses and minority-, women-, and veteran-owned enterprises to support communities and local economic development.
