John, Ohioans are headed to the polls!

Today, Issue 1 will face a vote. Across the country, GOP lawmakers are trying to make it more difficult for citizens to have their voices heard. One of the pivotal modes of direct democracy is a ballot initiative, which can create laws for local governments or entire states.

Issue 1 is precisely that type of move. While Republican and conservative groups have marketed it as a "protection from deep-pocketed, out-of-state interests," the truth is that a 40% minority would be able to derail any future attempts to change the state's constitution. Not only that, but this would also require signatures from every county in the state, not just a simple majority. Ultimately, the goal of the Ohio state GOP is to create multiple barriers to enshrining abortion into law in the state, which will be on the ballot in November. Voter turnout is particularly low in summer...and the GOP knows it.

Let your friends in Ohio know - polls close at 7:30 pm.

John, this won't stop with Ohio. Republicans and their fringe-right cohorts of the MAGA GOP will continue to attack our freedoms and rights to keep themselves in power. Help us fight back and reach voters across rural America and ensure that they know the truth.
