Friend – On the night of April 4, our team at the ACLU of Wisconsin gathered in our office and joined with the rest of the country to await the outcome of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Election. Together, we watched voter turnout soar to record-breaking heights, with young voters, women, and voters of color showing up to the polls in droves. After months of tireless effort – working day in and day out to ensure every eligible voter felt empowered to cast an informed ballot – election night gave us a moment to take pride in what we had achieved. Over the course of the spring election cycle, the ACLU of Wisconsin and National ACLU joined forces to reach hundreds of thousands of people across the state, unleashing the full force of the organization to educate Wisconsinites about the importance of our state supreme court and to ensure every eligible voter had all the tools they needed to vote their values at the ballot box. I recently wrote a blog recapping what we accomplished.
Our election work was a massive undertaking, requiring endless collaboration, dedication, and an unshakeable commitment from every member of our team. It took a ton of hard work, but it was worth every second. I feel immense gratitude for all the people who poured themselves into the fight for a just future, supporting communities – especially communities that have been historically excluded and advocating from the margins. Their passion and endless pursuit continue to give me strength. Together, we ensured the people's voice was heard in this vital election. In solidarity, Dr. Melinda Brennan |
