August Happenings at Alliance for Children

Aces for our Kids

The Ridgela Summer Classic Charity Tennis Tournament is an exciting doubles competition that combines the love for tennis with the spirit of giving back. Hosted by Ridglea Country Club, this annual event aims to raise funds for a local charity while bringing together tennis enthusiasts of all levels. Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26, Alliance For Children is honored to be the charitable beneficiary!

Not a tennis player, but still want to help out? Come to the Kick-Off Party on Thursday, August 10 at Rahr & Sons Brewing from 5-7 PM for bingo, prizes, and beer! All of the bingo card sales and 20% of the beer sales will be donated back to Alliance For Children. Guests are encouraged to bring a donation of a wine bottle (value of at least $15) to be used for the wine pull at the Summer Classic.

What's Been Happening at Alliance For Children

Room Makeovers

Imagine you experienced trauma in your own home, daily walking back into your crime scene with all of the triggers and pain still present. For many of our kids, this is the reality they are navigating, ultimately affecting the entire protective family.

Our Makeover Project goes into these identified spaces, and reimagines what the room could look like alongside our children, transforming the space from one of hardship to rediscovering the joys of childhood. This Summer, we have had the chance to redesign many children’s rooms, and wanted to share a few photos of their new spaces!

After sleeping in her parents' room since the abuse took place, upon seeing her new room, one of our kids announced she was, "gunna stay in my room ALL DAY" for the foreseeable future!

Healing Tree Highlights

Graduation Day is a big milestone for kids that participate in our Clinical Program. Whether they partake in our individual or group counseling programs, each graduate gets the chance to leave their mark behind.

In each of our centers, handprints from each of our graduates serve as the colorful leaves of our Healing Trees. These “leaves” are an array of colors and sizes, each as individual as the child who left them behind. What a reminder to the child who comes through our doors for the first time that they are not alone in their journey, but have strong roots of hope in those that came ahead.

Office Closure for Labor Day

While we are always on call for Tarrant County’s child abuse victims, in observation of Labor Day, our offices will be closed on Monday, September 4.
