Grizzly bear with cub

Hi John,

When Yellowstone grizzlies lost federal protection a few years ago, Wyoming immediately scheduled a trophy hunt. The Center sued to stop it and won.

Now Congress is moving ahead with taking away protection from all grizzlies in the lower 48. This would be a disaster for these iconic bears.

We can't let it happen. Please give to the Endangered Species Act Protection Fund to help us protect grizzlies.

Congress has already moved forward on a spending bill that would take away protection from grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone and Northern Continental Divide ecosystems.

If it passes states like Wyoming will once again take aim at grizzlies who unknowingly cross the border of Yellowstone Park — directly into the crosshairs of trophy hunters.

Montana and Wyoming have already petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to weaken protection for grizzlies, and the Service has started moving forward.

Now new bills have been introduced to take away Endangered Species Act protection for all grizzlies across the lower 48.

Grizzlies were once nearly wiped out less than a generation ago. Today they occupy just 6% of their historical range.

It's far too soon to take away their protection.

These coordinated, kitchen-sink assaults on the wild must be pushed back.

The bill targeting Yellowstone grizzlies also blocks funding to restore grizzly bears to the North Cascades. It's the same one that takes away protection from most wolves in the lower 48 states.

And it makes it harder for the Fish and Wildlife Service to enforce the Endangered Species Act.

This heartless attack on grizzlies and wildlife comes as the extinction emergency becomes more dire. Shrinking habitat and a climate out of whack are pushing imperiled species to the brink.

Grizzlies are icons of the wild. We'll do all we can to protect them — and all species in harm's way.

Help us with a gift to the Endangered Species Act Protection Fund.

For the wild,
