MEET THE INTERNS
[[link removed]] Hello, I'm Arianna Lema, a compassionate and caring individual who deeply values humanity. Creating comfortable spaces for people is important to me, and I take pride in being a sister and a mother figure to my four siblings. Currently, I am attending Bakersfield Community College with the plan to transfer to a four-year institution. While I have spent my entire life in Kern County, I have also had the opportunity to travel outside the state to learn about different communities. My love for animals runs deep and I share my life with six cats and two dogs. I dream of one day owning a ranch filled with various animals.
My involvement in politics began with a profound personal experience during a Chicano studies course. Learning about my family history during an assignment in that class ignited within me a call to action. This passion led me to participate in community council meetings and actively engage in local politics. My commitment deepened when I received a job offer from my Chicano studies professor to work with the Dolores Huerta Foundation, further fueling my interest in politics. Through these experiences, I have come to recognize the power of community grassroots activism in driving policy change.
I identify as a Democrat because the party aligns with my core values– social justice, equality, inclusivity, and economic opportunity for all. I support policies and initiatives that address systemic inequalities, protect civil rights, promote environmental sustainability, and expand access to healthcare and education. I firmly believe that the Democratic Party's approach to governance and policy-making aligns with my dedication to creating a fair and just society for all individuals.

[[link removed]] Hi, I'm Alvina Shea. I was born and raised in San Francisco but I now live in Los Angeles as a third-year student at UCLA, majoring in Public Affairs. Along with my studies, I serve as an intern in Senator Dianne Feinstein's office and hold the role of Director of Civic Engagement in the undergraduate student government at UCLA.
Growing up, my parents' access to information about civic engagement was limited, which sparked my curiosity about politics. During high school, I took it upon myself to educate myself on current events and how government and politics impact our lives. This journey led me to form my own opinions and perspectives.
I'm a Democrat because I'm passionate about improving the quality of life for all people and communities, including those often overlooked by many policymakers. I want to see change in problems that plague my city, state, and country.

[[link removed]] Hi, I'm Christian! I am an 18-year-old lifelong activist living in Los Angeles County and currently studying Public Policy at Stanford University. My passion for creating "a more perfect union" in my community has driven me to be deeply involved in various local nonprofit organizations, as well as national, state, and local political campaigns. Additionally, I have a background in engineering and computer science and have worked on projects related to satellites, space, and defense.
My involvement in politics began at a young age, inspired by my grandmother's extensive activist work, which instilled in me the belief that I can make a meaningful difference in my community and contribute to building a better future for all generations.
As a Democrat, I firmly believe that everyone, regardless of their background or class, deserves a fair and equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream. I envision a future where we take decisive action on climate change, prioritize education, provide affordable housing, and create an economy that benefits everyone. These values and priorities are why I proudly identify as a lifelong Democrat and plan to run as one for Congress one day!

[[link removed]] Randy Evans
My name is Randy Evans, and I am originally from Columbus, Ohio, but I grew up in Rolling Meadows, northwest of Chicago. I am a musician who enjoys traveling and gardening and am currently located in South Valley.
Being a Democrat has been a constant part of my life. From a young age, I was encouraged to give back to the community. In high school, I became involved in politics by opposing a proposal that would have negatively impacted high school performing arts programs. Through phone banking and canvassing efforts, we successfully defeated the initiative with 80% of the vote against it. Since then, I have been actively engaged in various political campaigns both in the Bay Area and the Central Valley. I currently serve as the Secretary of Visalia Democrats and am a Central Committee member.
In 2023, I had the honor of attending my first state convention as an elected delegate for Assembly District 23. I have a keen interest in getting involved with the rural and environmental caucus to address important issues in those areas.
My primary focus is on increasing Democratic voter registration and recruiting candidates who truly embody Democratic values at the local level. Additionally, I am committed to staying connected with youth who leave the area to pursue educational opportunities, with the personal goal of getting more young professionals actively engaged in the Democratic Party.
Diversity is crucial to me, and I believe that the LGBT community is currently underrepresented in the central valley. I am dedicated to increasing visibility and participation from the LGBT community, advocating for their rights and perspectives within the Democratic Party and beyond.
