Just a few hours ago, we won our case challenging Mississippi’s six-week abortion ban at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The court has temporarily blocked the ban, upholding a lower court’s decision from May 2019.
This is now the second time in two months the Fifth Circuit has told Mississippi that it cannot ban abortion. A panel of three judges on that court already struck down the state's law banning abortion at 15 weeks, and this six-week ban is an even more extreme attempt to restrict abortion access in the state.

Despite the relentless attempts by Mississippi and other states, the right to legal abortion remains the law of the land. The state is one of nine that passed unconstitutional abortion bans in 2019 as part of a clear and coordinated nationwide strategy to legislate abortion out of existence. We’re currently challenging dozens of abortion restrictions in states across the country, including a similar six-week abortion ban passed in Georgia last year.
