Team — In the last year, the Hudson Valley has experienced serious, significant climate emergencies:

→ Last month, torrential rain and dramatic flooding devastated our communities. This once-in-a-millenium phenomenon created massive damage, flooded homes, crumbled roads and train tracks, and more. Worst of all, a family was torn apart because of the tragic loss of life of someone during these storms.

→ Earlier this summer, our skies were full of smoke from Canadian wildfires, making it unsafe to go outside and breathe.

→ And before that, ice storms wreaked havoc on our community.

Team: Events like these are becoming more and more frequent as we fail to take action to address our changing climate.

But even still, some Republican colleagues in Congress continue to deny the changing climate and the devastating impacts it has.

Pat has made it clear: clean air and water are a right, not a privilege. But if we fail to take action, these precious resources will be harder and harder to come by.

It won’t be easy: it’s going to take massive investment and belief to address increasing temperatures, rising water levels, and more frequent climate emergencies. But this is what it is going to take to save our planet.
