John,
I’m working to make Idaho a place that takes care of the people who live here. Unfortunately, in our post-Roe world, that’s just not the case.
After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Idaho implemented one of the most severe abortion bans in the nation, including a travel ban that prevents minors from seeking reproductive care in other states and incriminates those who may help them.
Now, the Washington Attorney General has joined several other states in suing Idaho for this harmful policy. They argue the law places their states’ healthcare providers at risk should they adhere to their oaths and provide care to those who need it.
A ban on abortions doesn’t stop abortions. It simply makes them more difficult to obtain, and more dangerous. Abortion is healthcare – and when someone from Idaho can’t get what they need here, they will likely travel to find it.
I know the extremists running our state government here don't speak for real Idaho.
And I’m glad to see these radical lawmakers being called out by our neighboring states for policy that is killing people and putting countless more at risk for unjust legal consequences.
We need federal protections for abortion, and we need them now.
We know Mike Simpson will never vote for women to have bodily autonomy. I’m running for Congress to build a formidable Democratic majority in the House and support legislation that protects people who seek necessary healthcare and I need you with me now.
Contributions have slowed down since the end of July, and we need to catch up right away if we want to flip this seat. Can you contribute $5, $10, or $25 to help me get caught up? Please let me know you’re with me now.
