It’s been a while since you heard from me directly, but with so much going on in our race right now, I wanted to reach out and explain a couple changes.

As you likely know, President Trump endorsed our opponent (and former representative) Claudia Tenney last week. Since then, our toss-up district has been receiving even more attention from the NRCC -- the Republican group focused on retaking the House majority:

1. First, they called Anthony out by name and listed NY-22 as one of the four most flippable districts in the country. The NRCC hasn’t forgotten that we only won this district in 2018 by a couple thousand votes -- barely 1%! Just two years prior, President Trump carried a wide margin here, so the GOP establishment is determined to flip NY-22 red again in 2020.

2. Then, they named Tenney as a “Contender” candidate -- their designation for GOP challengers with the strongest campaigns. This means Tenney is building out a team of strategists with the DC stamp of approval AND she’s raising serious money. With her path to winning the GOP nomination clearing up, she could have a lot of cash to burn in the general election.

Based on the way things are shaping up, there’s not a doubt in my mind that our district is going to be one of the most targeted in the nation. Washington insiders know what’s on the line in 2020, and they believe that winning NY-22 could give them back control of the House.
