When we turn out people to vote in Rashida’s district, we’re turning out some of the most progressive voters in Michigan. Our voter education and election protection efforts have helped secure important statewide victories, such as protecting abortion rights in the state Constitution and ensuring that Democrats now lead the state government.

Republicans are also trying to take away our fundamental rights to control our own bodies through attacks on abortion and gender-affirming health care. And their attacks on education and diversity initiatives are attempting to whitewash our history.
Just last week, Florida’s Governor—a 2024 presidential candidate—defended his state’s new Black history standards, to teach public school students that enslaved Black people benefited from slavery. This is disgusting white supremacy, and it mirrors right-wing attempts across the country.
Rashida’s bold voice and outspoken leadership are more critical now than ever. In a recent speech on the House floor, Rashida said:
“We must teach our children, Mr. Speaker, the truth about our nation’s history. That means reckoning with racism, oppression and lynching, dehumanization and white supremacist violence ... we will not allow anyone to rewrite our history.”

Today marks one year until Michigan’s 2024 August primary, and we’re gearing up to launch our campaign for Rashida Tlaib’s re-election to Congress.
Last year, pro-apartheid groups like AIPAC and affiliated PACs spent over $1 million attacking Rashida, flooding her district with misinformation and attack ads to mislead voters.
We know she’ll be a target again because she keeps standing firm in her values, including putting up the Palestinian flag outside her office in Congress and telling the truth about Israel’s apartheid government. She keeps putting people first over dark money PACs, corporate polluters, and others influencing politics to maintain the unjust status quo.
We need to be ready to counter misinformation by bringing Rashida’s message to as many constituents as possible. So we’re building out our field campaign for 2024. Rashida comes from grassroots activism, and as a public servant deeply rooted in her community, she prioritizes speaking with her constituents directly—from hosting events in her district’s communities to knocking on doors.
To start expanding our campaign’s field team, we’ve got to start raising money now. Since Rashida doesn’t take any money from corporate PACs, our campaign relies on grassroots donations from people like you.

As a swing state, Michigan’s been targeted by right-wing voter suppression—especially the Black and brown voters in and around Detroit.
But with our voter education and election protection efforts, we’ve helped elect not only Rashida but other progressives—and we’ve helped secure important statewide victories such as protecting abortion rights in the state Constitution. Now, Democrats lead the state government in Michigan, which has led to important policy wins.

Rashida led the fight to get Trump impeached twice, and we helped vote him out of office. He just got indicted again, but it doesn’t seem to matter to his supporters. Now, we are up against increasingly fascist Republican presidential candidates hell-bent on taking away our freedoms, dividing us, and ruling over us rather than representing us.
For example, Florida’s Governor has attacked trans and queer people and is now defending Florida’s Board of Education, which just approved new Black history standards so that public school students will be taught that enslaved Black people benefited from slavery. This is disgusting white supremacy.
Attempts to ban books and whitewash our history are happening across the country. And Republicans are also planning to ban abortion nationwide.
Rashida’s bold voice and outspoken leadership are more critical now than ever, and it’s also more important than ever to turn out the vote in Michigan.
