If you ask me, some politicians run for Congress for the wrong reasons.

They run for the name recognition. For the power. Some run just because they can.

I want to be very clear with my team: I am running for Congress because I realized I could not let one more day pass while Minnesotans die because Washington continues to do nothing to ease the cost of health care.

I know the burden of the health care crisis all too well. Each month, I pay $1000, out of pocket, for life-saving medication and supplies that help me live with diabetes.

That’s the cost I pay to live. What if I didn’t have the money to pay for it? What if I was forced to choose between my health and keeping the lights on? Or putting food on the table?

These are impossible decisions that we are forcing hard-working people to make.

Our system is broken, and I will work with anyone, anywhere, to get to work to pass legislation that will lower the cost of health care and prescription medication. Although we’ve asked better of him, I cannot say the same about my opponent Pete Stauber, who has had his chance to make this a priority.
