Folks,

This is a longer email about the automotive industry, but I hope you’ll read it.

As the United States continues to face growing competition with China, protecting our domestic and Michigan-based automotive manufacturers remains at the top of my priorities.

That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor the Shifting Forward Vehicle Technologies Research and Development Act – legislation that accelerates innovation, promotes sustainable technology, and helps our country remain the leader in advanced manufacturing.

In the past few years, China has had a 5.5x lead over the U.S. in high-impact battery research, the main technology used to power electric vehicles.

We’ve reached a turning point where the only way forward is sustainable, clean technology, and I’m working day and night to ensure the United States is equipped with the resources we need to be a global leader in advanced vehicle development.

This bill would address our supply chain issues and put Michigan at the center of unlocking solutions to give us a leg up over China, while working towards our clean energy goals.

I won’t stop fighting to take charge (no pun intended) of the electric vehicle industry to put the U.S. on top, but I need your support.

Will you chip in $25 today to help Michigan combat the climate crisis, boost our economy, and compete with China? With your support, I’ll continue to be in Congress introducing legislation like this one that puts American workers first.
