We?ve enjoyed wet but wonderful events at Splendour and the Riverside festival so far this summer. With warmer and sunnier weather on the way this month, there are still lots of great activities to enjoy in our city:
-
Nottingham Beach at Old Market Square (until Sunday 3 September): Entry is free for visitors wanting to enjoy the beach, boardwalk and paddling area. Other rides and attractions include the Giant Slip ?n Slide, bungee trampolines, hook a duck, penny pusher machines, food stalls and a beach bar. Find out more about the Beach here.
-
Enchanted Forest Exhibition at Lakeside Arts (until Sunday 3 September): Digital artist Barret Hodgson has let his imagination run wild to create a fantastical woodland unlike one you've ever encountered in reality. Explore the forest and meet magical creatures and amazing plants ? and what changes can your curiosity bring about? Children can also enjoy free themed craft activities on their visit. Find out more here.
-
Nottingham Carnival at Victoria Embankment (Sunday 20 August): Nottingham Carnival is a fabulous multi-cultural celebration. Numerous troupes from Nottingham and around the country will take park in the Carnival Parade, which starts at 2pm and is free to watch at any point along the route. Read more about the carnival here.
I would like to remind people that the 2023 annual canvass is in progress and our Electoral Services team is contacting every household in Nottingham to ensure that our Electoral Register is accurate. This will be either by email, text or letter:
-
Email / text: If we have your email address or phone number, we will have contacted you asking to confirm your household details online instead of posting you a form. The email will come from [email protected]. THIS IS NOT SPAM. Please check your inbox.
-
Paper form: If we don't have your email address or phone number or you don't respond to our initial contact, you will receive a paper form through the post. If the form asks you to respond, then it is important to do so to ensure that you can have your say at future elections. Where possible, please try to respond online or, alternatively, you can post the form back to us.
Please respond to the form if it asks you to, or if there have been any changes to your details. The quickest and easiest way to do this is online ? it should only take about five minutes.

We recently visited Nottingham Tennis Centre to see how solar panels are helping to save money on bills and reduce the site?s carbon footprint.
The City Council and the Lawn Tennis Association set up a Power Purchase Agreement which allows the tennis centre to benefit from the renewable energy produced by the panels.
In one year, the solar panels generated over 100,000kWh of energy, which is enough to power around 37 homes. The installation avoids 20 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year ? supporting Nottingham's ambition to be a carbon neutral city by 2028.
Organisations across the city can get involved with Nottingham?s ambition to be carbon neutral by joining the We Support campaign. Find out more here.
