Hello,
As you know, last year was devastating for many people caught in crisis worldwide. And in 2020, we are seeing the dangers grow.

Experts across the IRC worked on a special report called the Emergency Watchlist, which highlights the 20 countries at greatest risk of experiencing the worst humanitarian crises this year.

You'll see in the report that for the second year in a row, Yemen remains the country most at risk of catastrophe. After 5 years of large-scale civil war, approximately 250,000 civilians have lost their lives and 24 million need humanitarian aid. The conflict has been marked by attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. People now have limited access to basic health, education, sanitization, and water – contributing to a cholera epidemic, with a reported 765,000 cases.

After Yemen, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Syria, Nigeria, and Venezuela are the other top countries.

Most of the humanitarian crises in the report have similar themes, including major conflict, droughts and flooding, disease outbreaks, and restrictions of humanitarian access for delivering help. And they are all severely underfunded.

"Across the globe, the scale of need in 2020 is likely to stretch resources beyond their limit," says Miliband. "It's vital that we do not abandon these countries when they need us most."

The IRC, with your support, will have operated in the 20 Watchlist countries for an average of 15 years, and in six of them for over 20 years. Because of supporters like you, we are able to stay for as long as we are needed to help families survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

Thank you so much, Friend, for standing with the world’s most vulnerable. Your voice matters, and your support of the IRC is critical.

See what other countries are on the Emergency Watchlist and share the report with your friends. Help us raise awareness about the world's worst humanitarian crises -- and how we can all make a lasting impact.
