The government-funded Housing?Loss Prevention Advice Service is available for people facing eviction or repossession?Legal Aid Agency

On 1st August 2023, the government launched the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service (HLPAS). This service offers free legal advice and representation to individuals who are at risk of losing their home. Help is available from the moment a person receives a written notice for possession (e.g. email/letter from landlord or creditor).

The HLPAS will be delivered by housing law experts. Housing experts will provide support in a form of legal advice on housing, welfare benefits and debt issues to individuals at risk of losing their home, with the aim of resolving problems early and avoiding court proceedings where possible. For cases that reach the courts, government-funded in-court legal representation will be offered on the day of listed possession?hearings.
