Hi John, The NRA is actively working to overturn the 2018 Florida law that bans the sale of assault weapons and other long guns to individuals under 21. This law was passed in response to the Parkland shooting, where 17 students were murdered in their high school in a horrific tragedy that shocked our national consciousness. Let me get this straight – after the Parkland shooting, the state of Florida came together to pass a common-sense bill in response. But now, the NRA is working overtime to overturn that legislation, leaving Florida students in danger. Please sign my petition to fight back against the NRA, and support this life-saving legislation. After the Parkland shooting, our leaders promised nationwide change, yet none came. That is why I ran for Congress in the first place – because these communities, and all Americans, deserve better. I am honored to stand by their side in fighting for safer gun laws. The fact that Republicans in Florida came together with Democrats to pass gun safety measures after Parkland gave me some level of confidence that elected officials of all stripes could find common ground with the goal of preventing a tragedy like this from ever happening again. But now, the NRA has made it one of their top priorities to overturn this bipartisan piece of legislation. Frankly, it makes me sick. We must stand together against the NRA’s extreme MAGA policies.
