Friends,
I am excited to announce we are now accepting submissions for this year’s High School Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Art Institute sponsors the Artistic Discovery Contest to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in Iowa’s Third Congressional District.
High school students across the country are invited to submit original pieces of art to their participating Congressional offices. The first-place winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend a reception held in their honor and see their artwork hung in the U.S. Capitol.
Submission Instructions
Students should email their submission to [email protected], or mail the submission to my district offices in Des Moines or Council Bluffs. The artwork submission must include a photo of the artwork, a Student Information & Release Form (which can be downloaded here) and a 100-200 word summary of your piece. This must be attached to the email or printed and sent with the artwork to one of my District Offices.
Each Third District high school student may submit one piece of artwork. There is no limit to the number of submissions per school. The artwork must be an original piece no more than 28 inches by 28 inches, 4 inches in depth, and may not weigh more than 15 pounds.
The final day to submit your work is April 22nd. For more information, you can visit our website www.axne.house.gov or call our office at (202) 225-5476.
I am excited to see the creativity Southwest Iowa has to offer, and I hope to see plenty of folks participate!
Sincerely,
Cindy
