Being an elected official is a “teaching and learning” job.

My job is to learn from Californians about problems they’re facing. This
week I spent time in the Central Valley, getting to really listen and
learn from people there. I visited farms and orchards in Arvin and
Shafter, hearing how Congress can support our state’s agriculture industry
and the workers who literally keep food on our tables.

It’s also my job to teach people about what’s going on in Congress and how
it relates to them. I know most people only tune in if they have a few
extra minutes—and that’s why I try to get my message across quickly and
effectively, whether on TV or in a Congressional Hearing that you might
catch a clip of on Youtube. It’s our job as elected officials to engage
voters, which means showing up in all areas, including places that are
often overlooked.

I love campaigning because it involves so much teaching and learning. Your
support allows me to stay on the road, connecting with the voters we’ll
need to win this competitive race.
