Cavies can run up to 18 miles an hour and enjoy hopping like rabbits. They
certainly don’t belong in tiny pens at roadside zoos. Yet that’s exactly how we
found Daisy and two other female cavies at Cricket Hollow Zoo — trapped in a
small pen with plywood walls that severely limited their mobility.

After our court victory to win Daisy and nearly 400 other animals their freedom, we now need your help to make sure animals just like Daisy get the care and
assistance they need.

one of her front legs developed with a deformity. Her more immediate medical concern is a tooth root abscess. Many of the animals
rescued from Cricket Hollow Zoo suffer from severe dental disease, including
teeth broken off at the root — and abscesses and infections that went untreated
long term.

These animals deserve the care and freedom they were cruelly denied. Will you
please help us give victims like Daisy a fighting chance?

Daisy has now received antibiotics, and after x-rays and blood work, has been
cleared for dental surgery at Iowa State University’s veterinary teaching
hospital next week. When Daisy has recovered, the cavies will move to a
sanctuary in Rhode Island — joining other cavies, some of who were relinquished
thanks to previous Animal Legal Defense Fund legal actions and your support.
There, Daisy will have access to physical therapies to help with her joint
issues.

Without you, Daisy and hundreds of animals, would still be languishing at
Cricket Hollow Zoo. We can’t take on these cases and provide for animals for as
long as we’re needed without your support.

Please renew now to help with these expenses and ensure healthy, happy endings
for animals like Daisy.
